The Sulmona Valley, or Valle Peligna, is a wonderful place to experience the spectacular Abruzzo countryside on foot. From gentle family ambles to serious mountain hikes – they are all here, waiting for you to discover, in the heart of our beautiful region.
On our website you will find:
- Advice & guidance on walking in the area
- Descriptions of walks in the Valle Peligna to buy and download
We are busy creating content and are over half way to our target for 2018! The first 12 routes, a wide choice across the grades, are available for download now (one for free!). This is over 150km of carefully mapped and described footpaths in the Sulmona Valley – and bang up to date! Lots of other routes will be added over the summer of 2018. Our plan is to have published 20 by the autumn – or about 300km worth; enough to keep you all healthy and happy for a while.
If you are new to the Sulmona Valley, start with our overview map by clicking here.

Our blog is where we publish advice and guidance, news and thoughts. We expect it to grow a lot over the summer months with the following topics and others to be covered:
- local maps
- gpx files and what to do with them
- local public transport
- how walks are graded
Our email newsletter is the best way to read these articles as they are published and to receive updates on the growing walk catalogue. Please use the box on the right to subscribe.
